Scholarship for Veterans in Honor of Lt. Colonel Joseph J. Fenty, Jr

Salenger, Sack, Kimmel & Bavaro is honored to be awarding two returning combat veterans, living or originally from Long Island, with the opportunity to attend a semester at The Art League of Long Island in memory of Lt. Colonel Joseph J. Fenty, Jr. who was a proud supporter of the arts and recognized how it nurtured the mind and the soul.  The scholarship consists of one formal art education class at the Art League’s Studio in Dix Hills, NY.

Lt. Colonel Joseph J. Fenty, Jr., was a patriot who gave his life for his country. He was a brother and mentor to the soldiers he commanded. On May 5, 2006, he and nine soldiers were killed while serving in the Kunar province in Afghanistan when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed during combat operations.

In life, he was a loving husband and son who hailed from Long Island. He attended Connetquot High School where he lettered in wrestling and cross country.

The Art League of LI:  The Art League of Long Island is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to broad-based visual arts education, providing a forum and showcase for artists of all ages and ability levels. Since its inception in 1955, the mission has focused on enhancing Long Island’s cultural life by promoting the appreciation, practice and enjoyment of the visual arts. Collaborative events and outreach programs spread the joy of creativity among every segment of the population.
