For Benjamin Salk, his practice is a calling reflective of his love of the narrative voice and his upbringing by a family that put a high value on human and civil rights. While a film student at Emory University, he cultivated his passion for storytelling. Today, as a personal injury and civil rights attorney representing only plaintiffs, Benjamin has translated his talent for a compelling narrative to move juries to rule in favor of his clients. “Presenting to a jury is the art of creating a persuasive, relatable and moving narrative. The people we represent are going through one of the biggest stories of their lives. Our job is to help them tell their story thoroughly and knowledgeably, with the well documented facts that back up the case.

“I am passionate about my work on a fundamental level. I was drawn to this practice because I truly believe in the work we do. The people who come to us are at a point where they really need us. For many of them, there’s no income coming in, they can’t get around readily or even at all. We help them get back on solid ground when they’re often not in a position to fend for themselves.”

Civil Rights Law, social justice and the rights of individuals are extremely important to Benjamin Salk. “Our clients are the ones who are aggrieved. For me, it’s more rewarding to work in pursuit of justice and compensation than against it. At the end of a case, our clients often give me a hug. It’s very satisfying to be on the side of the person rather than a corporation.”

Benjamin believes that the work he does is “one of the best ways we have to make America a safer place for everyone. Our work helps to keep corporations and other businesses and worksites in check, and encourages them to put safety ahead of profits. I have a baby, and like other parents, I’m concerned about the safety of the products that my wife and I buy all the time. It makes me feel more comfortable that the civil justice system is making these products safer for my family.”

The respect and admiration of his peers in the profession have put Benjamin Salk on the NY Metro Super Lawyers Rising Star list. He predominantly handles matters regarding premises liabilitycivil rights and motor vehicle accidents with special expertise in bicycle accident cases.

He joined Salenger, Sack, Kimmel & Bavaro in 2011 after a number of years spent representing plaintiffs in Miami, Florida. While in Florida, Benjamin tried a traumatic brain injury case that resulted in one of the largest verdicts in a personal injury case in Broward County (Florida) history.

Benjamin is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law (Honors: Litigation Skills Program) and Emory University. He speaks, writes and reads Spanish fluently. He is admitted to the bar in Florida and New York.
