Our client was a 42-year-old married woman with two young children. She was a non-smoker. An x-ray during a routine physical revealed a suspicious finding in her lung but it was not noted by the radiologist who interpreted the study. About eight months later, our client noticed a lesion on her scalp. Her doctor ordered a workup, which included a CAT Scan of her lungs. That study revealed non-small cell lung cancer. The lung mass had grown since the x-ray and the cancer had metastasized to her scalp and liver. She began chemotherapy immediately but passed away five months after the diagnosis.
