Our client, a 63-year-old married man underwent quadruple bypass surgery at a Brooklyn hospital. While recovering in the cardiac unit of the hospital, the nurses failed to timely recognize that his cardiac monitor was malfunctioning. As a result, our client suffered ischemic brain damage and lapsed into a coma. He died about seven months later. The case settled during trial in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
