Our client, 42-year-old woman and Bronx resident, was employed as a suite attendant in a Manhattan hotel. While working, she entered an elevator on the 7th floor intending to go to the basement level. Soon after she stepped in, she heard a “boom” and the elevator abruptly dropped below ground level, causing her to fall to the floor. Hotel workers needed to pry open the elevator doors to extricate her. As a result, she suffered neck and back injuries that required surgeries, as well as psychological injuries.
