In a workplace incident, our client, a 43-year-old married man and Senior Network Engineer in New York City, faced a ordeal that changed his life forever.
While performing his duties at work, seated on a rolling stool, which stood at a height of 2 feet with a plastic seat and three metal legs, suddenly collapsed beneath him.
The metal rod connecting the seat to the legs tore through the cushion, causing severe injuries to our client. With no barrier in place, the metal rod came up through the cushion and impaled our client, piercing his rectum and internal organs.
We took action against the manufacturer, distributor, and seller of the defective stool, leveraging principles of strict products liability to seek justice for our client.
The consequences of the incident were severe, leaving our client with debilitating rectal injuries, including a pierced colon that necessitated the use of a colostomy bag, as well as bladder damage.
