Then 51 years old, our client sought medical attention from her neurologist due to neck pain. After receiving Valium, she returned the next day with a headache, leading to a trigger point injection in her neck. Despite escalating symptoms, it wasn’t until her third visit to the neurologist that she was referred to a Manhattan hospital Emergency Room.
At the ER, she complained of severe headache and back pain. However, the examining physician concluded she had a kidney infection, ruling out a cerebrovascular thrombosis or subarachnoid hemorrhage without conducting a head CAT scan. Shortly after leaving the hospital, our client suffered a stroke, collapsing unconscious within a block of the facility.
Upon her return, a head CAT scan revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage from an aneurysm, resulting in hemiplegia and hemiparesis on her right side. Despite defendants’ assertions that appropriate care was provided, the case settled before trial.
