In a sobering case, a 63-year-old married man underwent quadruple bypass surgery at a Brooklyn hospital. While recuperating in the cardiac unit, there was a failure to promptly detect a malfunction in our client’s cardiac monitor by the nursing staff.
Tragically, this oversight led to ischemic brain damage, causing our client to fall into a coma. Despite efforts, he passed away approximately seven months later.
The case was settled during the trial in Brooklyn Supreme Court, highlighting the importance of addressing medical oversights and ensuring accountability in such situations.
