A 44-year-old married man with three children, served as a foreman for a roofing company, tasked with laying a new interior roof at a construction site on Randall’s Island.
The site, part of a maintenance facility for the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, posed significant risks. Despite our client’s efforts to ensure a safe working environment by addressing debris on the roof, an unfortunate accident occurred.
On the day of the incident, our client fell approximately 30 feet through a covered opening for an air duct that had yet to be installed. As a result, he sustained a range of injuries, including a concussion, head trauma, fractures to his hip, elbow, and leg (fibula), as well as compression fractures in his back. Additionally, the accident caused psychological trauma.
Multiple surgeries were necessary to address these injuries, highlighting the severity of the incident. The case was settled during trial in New York City.
