About the Role:

Salenger Sack Kimmel & Bavaro LLP, a growing personal injury litigation firm in Nassau County, New York, is seeking a highly motivated recent law school graduate who is pending admission to the New York Bar to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent law graduate seeking to build a career in personal injury litigation in a supportive, training-oriented environment. The successful candidate will initially be employed as a Law Clerk pending admission to the New York Bar and will work under the supervision of attorneys admitted to practice in New York.

Responsibilities

Law Clerk Responsibilities Pending Admission

Under the supervision and direction of attorneys admitted to practice in New York, responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in managing personal injury matters from intake through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, case evaluations, and other legal work product for attorney review.
  • Draft and review pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, correspondence, and other litigation documents, subject to attorney review and approval.
  • Assist with deposition preparation, including preparing deposition outlines, exhibits, and other materials.
  • Assist with factual investigation, witness interviews, medical-record review, damages analysis, and case development.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including document review, exhibits, witness preparation, and case organization.
  • Collaborate with partners, associates, experts, and other professionals regarding case strategy and legal evaluations.
  • Assist with client communications and case-related matters under attorney supervision.
  • Attend court proceedings and other litigation-related events as appropriate and permitted.
  • Participate in professional development, networking, and business-development activities that contribute to the firm’s growth.

Responsibilities Following New York Bar Admission

Upon admission to the New York Bar, the individual will transition to an Attorney/Associate Attorney role with increased responsibility, which may include:

  • Manage assigned personal injury cases from intake through resolution under the direction and supervision of firm partners.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, including depositions of plaintiffs, defendants, and third-party witnesses.
  • Draft, review, and respond to pleadings, discovery, motions, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
  • Participate in court conferences, appearances, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Develop case strategy and perform legal analysis in collaboration with partners and experts.
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide responsive, professional case updates.
  • Assist with settlement negotiations and resolution of assigned matters.
  • Contribute to the firm’s professional reputation and growth through networking, business development, and personal branding.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Pending admission to the New York Bar.
  • Candidates who have recently taken the New York Bar Exam and are awaiting results or admission are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop a career in personal injury litigation.
  • Prior litigation, personal injury, judicial internship, or law firm experience is a plus, but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary: $85,000 while employed as a Law Clerk pending New York Bar admission.
  • Salary increases to $100,000 upon successful passage of the New York Bar Exam and transition to the Attorney/Associate Attorney position, subject to admission to practice in New York.

Professional Development

This position is designed for a recent law school graduate who wants to develop strong litigation skills and build a long-term career in personal injury law. The firm offers hands-on training, mentorship, and the opportunity to work closely with partners and experienced litigators.

The successful candidate will have a clear opportunity to grow with the firm and progress from Law Clerk to Attorney/Associate Attorney, with compensation increasing from $85,000 to $100,000 upon successful passage of the New York Bar Exam and admission to practice in New York.
